But I Digress…

I decided to spend some of the $50 they’d given me for my car on a treat. So cruised down to Karawara on my bike, in the rain (I like riding in the rain), for a hot chocolate and something tasty from Gloria Jeans. I decided to get a caramel slice, which was actually a bit more caramel than my stomach was happy with. While I sat there I read an old ‘fashion’ magazine - another guilty pleasure. Those things are so full of rubbish, mostly ads and celebrities, definitely not worth the money they charge for them, and not at all fitting in with my geek/brain image! But I’ve lately been taking an interest in fashion - not wearing-what-famous-people-wear fashion, but looking at interesting and funky clothes, and reading what people have to say about them (see Dress A Day, The Sartorialist and Go Fug Yourself, for example :P). I’ve also been branching out in what I wear. Me wearing a skirt is becoming less of a mark-it-on-your-calendar event than it was, and hopefully I’ll soon be able to unveil the skirt that I’ve been sewing. I plan to wear it for Christmas. I’m discovering a preference for more detailed and more tailored styles. As I read and learn more about sewing and dressmaking I’m appreciating those extra touches more and more. It’ll be interesting to see how different my wardrobe looks in a year or so. Although I think I won’t lose my preference for a low-effort look for day-to-day wear!

(omg, I nearly posted this with “loose” instead of “lose”! That’s right up there in my list of unpardonable grammatical errors. My grammar, and spelling and word-finding, abilities have really deserted me lately. Bit of a worry.)
