I went to Serpentine this weekend. I didn’t get to do a lot of bushwalking, but I really enjoyed wandering around the nearer bits. On Saturday night we went for a late-night walk to look for a lost phone. We only had one torch between the four of us, which made navigating rocks, fallen branches and sinkholes a bit of an adventure. The best bit was when we switched off the torch to try to see the phone (which we were calling from another phone). There was no light except for the stars and some lights from the road in the distance. All around us was bush; all we could see was stars above us, tree silhouettes around us, and the occasional quartzy rock on the ground. Awesome, in the dictionary rather than colloquial sense of the word. When we got back we lay on the benches looking at the stars and talked about life in the universe, and time, and other deep and meaningful things. And on Sunday Eva & I discovered the simple pleasure of poking things with sticks (some antheaps, a leaking tree, and a solidified bag of concrete, to be specific). I’ve got to try to get out walking in the bush more often (at least until it gets all hot and snaky *shudders*)
Here would be a picture of Steve, but we’re having technical difficulties - maybe tomorrow…
Here is a picture of Steve at Serps. Apart from the slight tree-growing-out-of-head thing, I think it looks pretty cool. The colours are a bit funny, not sure why, but I think it looks interesting. I have, however, turned my camera to full ‘auto’ mode, to try to get it to take ‘normal’ pictures next time :p

yay! Finally I can get on your website (for some reason stupid Perth College firewall keeps saying its a content blocked site…)
I am sure if it was less cold, and we had been able to spend more time laying on benches looking at the stars we would eventually have figured out all the mysteries of space and time..sigh, maybe next time.
Also huzzah for poking random things.
